WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) released the following statement on House Resolution 719.

“I hope we can all agree that political violence – be it the assassination of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, the fire set on Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro’s home, the assassination attempts made against the President – is utterly unacceptable. 

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) voted against House Republicans’ seven-week government funding bill. Elfreth instead supports House and Senate Democrats’ funding bill which would place checks on the President’s powers and address our nation’s health care crisis.

Recent reports indicate that the military services intend to eliminate vacant firefighter positions, restrict the use of overtime, and interpret statutory staffing requirements in a manner that could lead to station closures.
