"Yesterday I had one of the most profound experiences in 18 months as your Representative in Congress: traveling to Philadelphia with a bipartisan group of colleagues to be in the “room where it happened” 250 years to the day of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A day of reflection later, and I still struggle to put into words what it means to have stood in the very room in Independence Hall where the Continental Congress gathered and officially declared independence from Great Britain. But here is my most earnest attempt:

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) took to the House floor for the second year in a row to commemorate the five members of the Capital Gazette whose lives were tragically lost on June 28, 2018, in a mass shooting in their Annapolis newsroom. Ahead of the eighth anniversary, the Congresswoman read aloud the names of the five journalists who were killed and urged her colleagues to take further action to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.

Elfreth and her team were joined by representatives of 19 federal, state, local, nonprofit, and business partners, covering a range of services from veterans affairs to utilities, employment, health care, and more.

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03), Vice Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee, questioned Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum. Elfreth opened by highlighting cuts to the federal workforce and funding at the National Park Service (NPS) by the Trump Administration. She continued by pressing Secretary Burgum on the unprecedented, partisan decision to issue national park passes with President Trump's face and changes to the grant approval process.
