Elfreth Releases Statement on Trump's 100 Days
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) released the following statement in response to the 100-day mark of President Trump’s second term in office:
“The first hundred days of the Trump Administration have been all chaos and no strategy. Thousands of constituents have called my office to voice their concerns, share their stories, and encourage action against the Trump Administration’s Executive Orders, mass firings, and rollbacks of legislation. My office and I are committed to fighting for the Third District and ensuring their voices are uplifted here in Congress.”
“Maryland has been especially hard hit as critical institutions like the Social Security Administration, National Security Agency, National Institutes of Health, and the United States Naval Academy have faced personnel and funding cuts, as well as tremendous disruptions to the lives of dedicated civil servants. Nationally, his Administration has slashed funding for special education programs, dismantled Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, weakened EPA safeguards, and gutted essential services for millions of Americans. In short, they’re using a sledgehammer where a scalpel is needed.”
“I firmly believe that Congress should be a responsible check on every President’s power and must reassert itself as a co-equal branch of government, which is why I will continue to speak out against the President’s most harmful policies and use every tool at my disposal to protect our communities. It’s also why I have introduced legislation, like the bipartisan Protect Our Probationary Employees Act, to protect our federal workers. I will continue to use every tool at my disposal to protect our communities.”
